Bio:
Msgr. Tim Murphy is one of the longest tenured faculty or staff members at Central Catholic. He grew up in northeast Portland and attended All Saints Grade School before entering Central Catholic in 1954. Msgr. Murphy attended the University of Portland as an undergraduate and went on to finish his seminary studies at St. Thomas Seminary in Seattle, Washington. He was ordained in 1967 and began teaching at Central Catholic in 1968. Except for an eight-year period from 1983 to 1990, Msgr. Murphy has worked at Central Catholic as a teacher, counselor, principal, or president. He is current serving in the role of President Emeritus. When he is not busy serving the Central Catholic community, Msgr. Murphy loves to travel. So far, he has toured the Western United States, Russia, Israel, India, Tanzania, Egypt, Mexico, Canada, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, Austria, and Germany.

Education:
Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Theology, St. Thomas Seminary.

Experience:
Was ordained in 1967, taught at Central Catholic from 1968 to 1983, was the Principal at Regis High School from 1983 to 1990, returned to Central Catholic as principal from 1990 to 1995, served as President from 1995 to 2008, and has been serving as President Emeritus since 2008.
