Career Connections

Career Connections

On Wednesday, September 29, we welcomed back five Central Catholic Alumni (in-person and virtually) to speak with our students at our first Career Connections of the year. The topic of this conversation was about generosity and the importance of philanthropy, and all five of our presenters currently work in or are involved with nonprofits.

Our alumni presenters included:

  • Jordan Turel ‘99, Former nonprofit director
  • Siobhan O'Malley '10, Metropolitan Family Service
  • Nay'Chelle Harris '10, Prosperity Connections in St. Louis MO
  • Emily Rose Wiitala '12, ALS Association of Washington and Oregon
  • Brian Betcone ‘19, Habitat for Humanity, Portland Region

These alums shared how they got involved in their nonprofit work, why philanthropy matters, and how generosity can look different for each person. This conversation was pertinent for our students, as our upcoming school-wide fundraiser, Students4Students, launches October 12!

Interested in being a Presenter?

We are continuing to offer a chance for students to hear from our wonderful alumni who are doing great things. This year we are holding panel-style talks for students in different subject areas. The subject could be "Medicine" and we would be looking for all aspects of this subject to sit on the panel, such as doctors, nurses, nutritionists, etc! This connection can be valuable to students, and it is an easy way for you to make a difference, whether in person or from your office or home!.

If you would like to be a presenter at a future Career Connections, or would like to learn more, please contact Sara Wright, Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement at swright@centralcatholichigh.org or 503.230.1056.
