Central Catholic names new Head Track and Field Coach

June 22, 2022 (Portland, OR.) Central Catholic’s athletic department is excited to welcome Emma Vaughan as and our new Head Track & Field Coach. 

Emma was born and raised in Clackamas, Oregon and attended Clackamas Community College. While there, she was a multisport athlete playing Basketball and competing in Track and Field. She was a junior college All American in the hurdles and long jump. She transferred to Concordia University Portland to compete in Track and Field and pursue her education to become a Mathematics Teacher. Emma will also be teaching in the Central Catholic mathematics department this coming school year. 
 
Soon after she graduated, she took a teaching and coaching position at Clackamas High School where she was a Track and Field Assistant for seven years and Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach for four years.  In 2016, she took on the Head Track and Field position at Clackamas. After six years as the Head Coach, she won four girls MHC District team titles and was the runner up in the other two years. The boys team improved every year under her leadership and had their best finish this last season finishing second. At the State level, she has coached multiple State Champions and State placers. 
 
During this span of coaching, she was voted by her peers “Coach of the Year” three times, 2017, 2018, and 2022. 
 
As a Coach, Emma prides herself on her communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Emma is committed to helping all athletes make improvements and every athlete has a good experience. Emma is excited to step into the Head Coach role to continue the competitiveness and legacy that Central Catholic Track and Field continues to hold.
