ASL Mass

ASL Mass
On April 21, 2022, we gathered for an all-school Easter Mass, celebrated entirely in American Sign Language (ASL). The Mass was presided by Fr. Paul Zirimenya from St. Benedict Parish for the Deaf in San Francisco, and was voiced by our interpreter, Jilene Modlin. Our ASL students participated in the Mass by presenting prayers, intentions, and songs.

At the conclusion of the Mass we honored Sr. Linda Roby, who, for decades has been ministering to Deaf Catholics in Portland and beyond. We acknowledged and thanked her for her unwavering dedication to Deaf community.

It was a beautiful gathering and we are immensely grateful to Anne Marie Eagle, the Campus Ministry staff, and our many teachers, students, and community members that helped to make this Mass happen.
