ASL Program Update

ASL Program Update
Last fall, students in the American Sign Language (ASL) program raised funds to upholster a chair used by the Catholic Deaf Community at St. Peters Catholic Church. ASL teacher Anne Marie Perdriau told her classes about the importance of Central Catholic’s ASL program interacting with the Catholic Deaf Community and beyond. The students responded by raising the funds needed to fix the chair in just one day! A wooden plate was placed on the back of the chair in dedication to the ASL Program at Central Catholic.

Students in our ASL program participate in activities at St. Peter’s when they can. Last fall, students volunteered to help with yard work projects for Father Raul Marquez. More recently, students attended Christmas Eve Mass with the Deaf Community. Llaelyn Sierra-Cortez and Izzy Kemp joined Anne Marie in signing “What Child is This”.

Way to go Rams!
