Courageous Conversations 3.30

On March 30, 2022, we held our third Courageous Conversations series of the school year. We had four simultaneous conversations focusing on these themes: Character, College, Career, and Culture.

Each conversation was led by students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, or other friends of Central Catholic. For this series, we heard from our community on these topics:
 

• Highlighting Important Women in Latino History
• Celebrating Women Beyond Women's History Month
• Young Alumni Showcasing the Westcoast Conference
• Alumni Showcasing Careers in Public Service

We were grateful to welcome back so many alumni, and we are inspired by the courage from our faculty, staff, and students to speak on these topics.

	Highlighting Important Women in Latino History Culture Conversation Presenters: Latinx Student Union This conversation highlighted several important women in Latinx history, and their impact on Latinx culture and society.
	Young Alumni Showcasing the West Coast Conference College Conversation Presenters: David Blue and a Panel of Young Alumni: Grace Bowman '19, Jake Ryan '18, Sunil Klein '19, Molly Shannon '21 We welcomed back our recent alumni to share their experiences directly from four major colleges from the West Coast Conference (Gonzaga, Santa Clara, University of San Diego, and Loyola Marymount University). They discussed their majors, campus life, and how Central Catholic prepared them for college and beyond.
	Careers in Public Service Career Conversation Presenters: Gretchen Pederson '95, Fire Inspector; Capt. Derrick Peterson '81, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office For this insightful conversation, we heard from two members in our community who have pursued careers in public service. They shared about their career journeys and gave insight and advice for students who are interested in careers in public service.
	Celebrating Women Beyond Women's History Month Character Conversation Presenters: Women's Coalition This conversation explored the important women in the Central Catholic community, the United States, and beyond. They highlighted a number of different women and celebrated the milestones and successes they have accomplished.
