Courageous Conversations with our Community

Courageous Conversations with our Community
Dear Central Catholic community,

Back in August, Student Council members picked Spirit Themes for all of our home Football games. The decision was made to have this week’s game versus Reynolds High School be a USA theme where students would show spirit by dressing in red, white, and blue. In light of recent events, concern from our student-body, and wanting to create a respectful and inclusive environment, our Administration has decided to pause and re-frame our USA theme around justice, equity, and equality. We believe it is of the utmost importance for us as a school and community to take time to have a thoughtful conversation about freedom and equality.

As we recognize our own privilege as a private school, we look forward to returning to the USA theme later this season with the goal of positively impacting our community and beyond. In the spirit of our community, this Friday’s theme will now be Cardinal and Gold as we celebrate the diversity and unity of Central Catholic’s incredible student body.

Students are encouraged to join the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for a Courageous Conversation in the New Gym during lunch on Thursday, September 28. Come dialogue in a safe and respectful environment. The topic will be “the intersection of sports and justice”.
